You can control how the bots play by using voice messages. If you're playing on a bot server a lot, you might often find yourself with several bots on your team. You might get frustrated when they run through double caps instead of stopping to help you cap. ![]() Bots might act dumb, but they aren't completely dumb. In fact, you can get bots to work with you as teammates if you use specific voice commands which they react to. The quote below is from the SturmbotReadme.txt file found in your /day of defeat/dod/sturmbot folder: Sturmbots also respond to commands in the three DOD vocal commands menus. We won't be going into a lot of detail on how the Sturmbots respond to the various vocal commands, we will leave that up to you to have fun experimenting with. However, we will explain how the Sturmbots respond to one or two of the less obvious commands and give you a general idea on what to expect from your friendly neighborhood Sturmbot squad... In order to play with bots effectively, you should have 3 voice binds and get used to using them to control your bot teammates: voice_backup voice_sticktogether voice_needammo If you're playing with bots a lot you should use some variation of the following binds conveniently on your keypad (add them into your userconfig.cfg file): bind "KP_INS" "voice_backup;say_team I'm getting bots to cap with me" bind "KP_DEL" "voice_sticktogether;say_team I'm requesting bots to follow me" bind "KP_ENTER" "voice_needammo;say_team I'm asking bots to drop ammo" Or just simply use the following: bind "KP_INS" "voice_backup" bind "KP_DEL" "voice_sticktogether" bind "KP_ENTER" "voice_needammo" If you get used to using those commands you will not have to hang out in a double cap zone with a bot just spinning in circles five feet outside of the zone. Or leave behind bots that are hand signaling a wall. ![]() In fact, you'll find they'll come assist in capping often a lot better than many humans do. ![]() Warning: when you use "sticktogether" the bots take that command literally. They will follow you everywhere. And keep doing so until you or they die. This can be a liability when you don't want attention drawn to your position or you want to be quiet or you're in a small area.
